The best time of the year to plant all depends on your climate or the type of tree your planting. Planting should be done during the spring time and/or the fall , because there is an increase in soil moisture, and moderate temperatures are in favorable conditions for planting. Certain type of trees are better planted in the spring time, so that they have more time to form.

Summer planting is never recommended, because heat and drought can cause stress for newly plants. In colder regions, planting at the end of the winter to early spring will get your tree off to the best start. Some gardeners prefer to plant trees in the fall after dormancy sets in, but at least one month before the soil freezes.

Cooler weather allows for greater comfort while digging, this gives more time for trees and shrubs to put their roots in the soil before the temperatures drops. If you plant your tree in the fall, it will provide the necessary water and nutrients for plants to become established. This results in significant new growth, as soon as the soil begins to warm up through the spring time. Trees planted during the fall will grow and blossom quicker than newly planted trees in the spring.

If you are spring planting, ensure maximum first-year growth with the least stress on a new plant by planting in advance of the growing season, while the soil is cool. This will allow the trees roots to grow into the new soil before foliage growth begins, which places demands on the root system.
